on mine the female side of the connector was making intermitted contact, how I found it was, after checking the voltage on both sides of the connector it would come and go like a bad ground, checked all the grounds. Looked closely at the connector and it was discolored on that terminal, upon further inspection it looked larger than the other three. Took a pick and pried it closed. applied a little dielectric grease pushed it back together so far, no more codes

I'm back working on my son's 76 Camaro. After swapping a 6 cyl. for a running 350, I have a problem and am looking for input. First: it looks like fuel pump crapped out on me, 0 fuel pressure, ok, I ordered a new one.
Secondly, and most important, I am getting no spark to the plugs. I'm getting power to the coil. The coil, cap, rotor, plugs and wires are all new. Module??? Also, I don't believe it is the wiring to the distributor on a 6cyl. and 8 cyl. because it looks like the wiring is identical, at least I can find nothing to the contrary. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Chopper, back in the day i drove a lot of 70s H.E.I. Chevys. My experience, #1 most common was the modual. #2 was the coil, and 3rd was the pickup coil wire harness w/the capasitor on it, (usually a broke wire).

I carried a complete distributor out of a known running car with me at first. That way if the car quit i had everything i needed, just R&R until it started (or wost case the whole distributor😁)
Later when i figured out common prob, i just carried a NAPA Echlin top line modual with me.

x2 what Sammons said. Was the six HEI?  Big cap? The internal electronic parts & coil are likely the same. Always carry spares. HEI is wonderful when it's working.

I bought a new distributor for my 33 to replace an original GM unit.  The new one came with a new cap rotor and module.  The module was made in China.  Only lasted 2 months and then junk.  I put the old module back in and it's been running great for 2 years.  I went to a salvage yard and got a spare GM module to keep in my tool kit.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

I installed a new fuel pump and ICM, car started right up!............and then started spewing fuel from every orifice on the carburetor. It was leaking when we got the car, so I rebuilt it, guess I didn't do that well ::) It's an older Holley and not worth my time, I see a new carb in my future.

Glad you got it fired up!   If your going to buy new, look into a QuickFuel carb. We've used quite a few of those the last 10yrs. Had excellent luck with them right out of the box. Don't know anybody that bought one this year, but hopefully they haven't dropped the quality.

I think they are $398 with out electric choke.
Here is the 600cfm with electric choke on Amazon Prime

You could have had lots of fire. Those are hard to put out with the fuel pump going.  :) Glad you got it going.

I think I am going to go with the Edelbrock 1406 Performer. I've used them on my Mustang and '32, very simple design and easy to tune and fiddle with.

For those of you guys who have been following my son's 76 Camaro over the last few years:
Today we FINALLY got the power steering pump from my son's buddy who sold him the engine. It fits perfect and looks like the power steering hose will screw right in. We got a new battery and starter, and a new carb (Edelbrock 1406). Turned the key...wouldn't start, just clicked like a dead battery. Only thing left in the starting system that we didn't replace was the cables. They looked fine, but I ran out and got two new ones. Started right up! No smoke, no noise. Beautiful, loud open headers. Went to back it out of the garage, could not get it out of park, like the shifter was binding. Took a closer look, the header is jammed against the rod that goes from the frame to the trans. Not sure how to handle this one....any thoughts?

Glad you got her fired up Chopper. First thought was what, cable shouldn't have a frame pivot rod? That must be a column shift?
Only one i had that way was my '71 Rally Sport. Odd duck, column shift, no console.

It would be hard to bend the rod and keep the geometry  right. Best to mark the header where it is interfearing, and beat it down there for clearance. Might be tough with header in the car. I bent one down once in the car, but i had floor pots. I put a chain over the header and tied to floor pot....then jacked up that side of the car. Chain left a good indent where it needed to clear shift rod.

My brother has been working a lot this summer on his '66 Corvette coupe. He bought it 15yrs ago, it's been on non-op since '89. No way for me to get out there to help, so just text and phone calls for help. Anyway he's been trying to gather up all the ignition chrome shielding and some odds an ends trim and emblems. I've been the last several days scouring the shop bins and shelfs for those pieces. Found quite a bit of it between dad"s old stash and mine. Finally got it sent off yesterday.

Car had a fresh 400 built and installed when he bought it, runs great. He does have the correct 350hp 327 that's suppose to be in it. 4 speed car, light blue with light blue int. He got the paint stripped off and in primer. Found a NOS set of side exhaust, and aftermarket set of knock off's and just found a big block hood.

He just finished installing the new interior, got it current on tags and made several trips to town for lunch🙂

Here are a couple recent pics

NICE....years ago I traded for a 66 427 automatic coupe project...wish I would have kept it.  Was renting and just didn't have the room to work or store it.
